My professional life is primarily dedicated to my role as a full-time researcher, a commitment that demands rigorous intellectual engagement and a constant pursuit of knowledge. This primary occupation is meticulously balanced with my secondary, yet equally fulfilling, position as a part-time tutor. Teaching, for me, transcends a mere job; it is a profound passion that ignites a deep sense of purpose and joy within me. The act of imparting knowledge and witnessing the spark of understanding in my students' eyes is an incredibly rewarding experience.
Over the course of my tutoring career, I have had the distinct privilege of guiding more than 300 students individually. This extensive experience has allowed me to hone my pedagogical skills and adapt my teaching methodologies to suit a diverse range of learning styles and academic needs. My specialization lies in teaching chemistry, a subject I find endlessly fascinating due to its fundamental role in understanding the world around us. However, my approach to teaching chemistry extends far beyond the confines of theoretical concepts presented in textbooks.
I firmly believe in demonstrating the practical applications of chemistry, which is why I often incorporate hands-on learning experiences within a laboratory setting. This allows students to actively engage with the subject matter, transforming abstract ideas into tangible realities. The laboratory becomes a vibrant space where theories are tested, reactions are observed, and discoveries are made. It's in this environment that students truly begin to grasp "how things are not just in the textbook." They learn to see chemistry as a dynamic force that shapes our everyday lives, from the food we eat to the materials we use.
My teaching philosophy also emphasizes the profound connection between chemistry and the natural world. I strive to illustrate "how we can learn from Mother Nature," showcasing the intricate chemical processes that govern ecosystems, biological functions, and geological phenomena. We explore examples such as photosynthesis, the water cycle, and the composition of minerals, all of which underscore the elegant and complex chemical principles at play in our environment. This holistic approach encourages students to develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world and to recognize the scientific underpinnings of its remarkable beauty and functionality. Through this blend of theoretical understanding and practical application, I aim to cultivate not just chemists, but inquisitive minds capable of observing, analyzing, and appreciating the chemical wonders that surround us.
