About Leigh

Hello, I’m Leigh L. I have over 24 years of experience teaching U.S. History—specializing in 20th-century and Women’s History—and 13 years teaching U.S. and World History at the community college level. Currently, I serve as a high school assistant principal, where I continue to support students in developing strong analytical and critical thinking skills. My teaching approach emphasizes connecting historical context to modern-day issues, helping students not only master content but also understand the relevance of history in shaping today’s world. With a background that includes 12 years of coaching field hockey, I bring patience, structure, and motivation to my work with students. I’m passionate about making complex material accessible and empowering students to achieve their academic goals in history and the humanities.

About the lesson

My lessons combine dynamic storytelling with rigorous historical content to make American History and college survey courses come alive. I help students strengthen critical thinking, analytical writing, and interpretation skills while connecting historical events to contemporary issues—making history both engaging and relevant to today’s world.
