About Nicson Yap
Hello! I'm Nicson Yap Yong Ze, a passionate STEM student and Chemistry tutor dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals with confidence.
I achieved 10A's in SPM, including 8A+, with distinctions in key Science and Mathematics subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Additional Mathematics, and Mathematics. My strong academic foundation allows me to guide students through challenging concepts while helping them develop effective study and examination strategies.
In addition to academics, I have represented my school and Malaysia in numerous national and international STEM, science, and innovation competitions, earning multiple awards and recognitions. These experiences have strengthened my analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills, which I bring into every lesson.
Over the years, I have helped many students improve their understanding of Science subjects by sharing clear explanations, practical learning methods, and exam-focused techniques. I believe that success in Chemistry comes from understanding concepts rather than memorising facts, and I strive to make lessons engaging, interactive, and easy to follow.

My approach to tutoring focuses on helping students truly understand Chemistry rather than just memorizing facts. I break down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand explanations, using real-life examples and clear step-by-step methods. I also focus heavily on exam techniques, including how to answer structured questions, avoid common mistakes, and score efficiently in SPM papers.
During lessons, I combine concept teaching with practice. Students will go through targeted exercises, past-year questions, and guided problem-solving to reinforce their understanding. I also provide concise notes and tips that are directly aligned with the SPM syllabus.
A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs. Each session is structured to include concept explanation, practice, and review to ensure consistent progress.
I am a recent SPM graduate who has consistently scored A+ in Chemistry throughout school. As someone who has just gone through the SPM system, I am very familiar with the latest syllabus, exam format, and effective answering strategies. This allows me to guide students with practical and relevant techniques that work.
My lessons are suitable for secondary school students, especially those preparing for SPM Chemistry. I welcome students of all levels, whether they need help building a strong foundation or aiming to achieve top grades.
