All mastery begins at the basic level, any flaw at the basic level can and will express itself later, and thus any issues in it's use can generally be traced to the core of a language.
I begin any course with a comprehensive test of basic ability.
I follow this with a standard set of lessons. The purpose being to reinforce what is correct, and to correct that which is wrong.
