About Natalie
I offer tutoring in biology with a clear, structured, and supportive approach designed to help students build both understanding and confidence in the subject. My focus is not on memorization alone, but on helping students develop a strong conceptual foundation so they can apply biological principles to different types of questions and exams. I begin by identifying areas of difficulty and then break complex topics into simple, logical steps, using clear explanations, visual reasoning, and real-world examples to make the material more accessible. Each session is organized with a brief review of prior content, focused instruction on a specific topic, guided practice problems, and independent work with feedback, followed by a concise summary to reinforce key ideas and study strategies.

My teaching approach is structured but flexible, with a strong focus on helping students genuinely understand biology rather than just memorize it. I start by identifying where a student is struggling, whether it’s foundational gaps, confusing concepts, or test-taking strategies, and then break material down into clear, manageable steps. I use simple explanations, visuals, and real-world analogies to make complex biological processes easier to understand, and I emphasize active learning through guided questioning and practice problems so students are thinking through concepts instead of passively reviewing them. A typical lesson includes a quick review of previous material, focused instruction on a specific topic, worked examples together, and then independent practice with feedback, followed by a short summary of key takeaways and study tips. What sets me apart as a biology tutor is my neuroscience background, which helps me explain not only the content but also how to study and retain it more effectively, especially under exam pressure. My lessons are geared toward high school and undergraduate students taking biology courses, including general biology, AP Biology, and intro-level college biology, as well as pre-health students who need a stronger foundation for future studies in fields like dentistry or medicine.
