About Lara
I completed the International Baccalaureate in Singapore United World College with Higher Level: Mathematics AA, Physics and Economics. I am now studying engineering on the masters track, so, I would not feel qualified to teach Economics. However, having studied in supplemental school, international schools and with personal tutors, my very strong and diverse foundational learning in mathematics and sciences have facilitated me to be able to communicate to students who have struggled to understand standardised teaching in the past.
When I was in school, I was heavily involved in piano, violin, ballet, as well as being on national teams for international dancesport. Therefore, I understand the need for efficient and thorough learning, and having other responsibilities.
I am also able to help students in English, Russian, French and German, so any students struggling with English as a second language could feel more comfortable learning in their own language while ensuring they can develop their understanding in the examinable language.

I have had very experienced personal tutors myself in high school, so I understand numerous teaching approaches that work for different types of students. I tutored students in younger years while I was in school, referred by my past teachers. I try to show to the student what the actual knowledge means, and how it makes sense, from the absolute basis understandings. This builds a strong foundation and makes future learning so much easier, all the way up to adulthood.
I find it important to ensure that the student is able to go through systematically each unit and ensuring full confidence in their understanding. Then, the most beneficial is applications to practice questions and exams, which we would work through together. This means that the student will be methodical and experienced in the course content as well as the process of taking exams.
I would be very glad to take in students going into IB or iGCSES to prepare for examinations. I can teach subject content for A Levels and GCSES, however, I would need provided material for the specific course of the student so that I would be able to best prepare them for the specific exams given to them.
I would assign work at times to be completed independently so that I could judge their competency, and the student would be expected to be involved in lessons.
