With over 20 years of experience as a professional musician and music educator, I am confident in my ability to efficiently target learning goals, develop lessons that align with those goals, and to help you optimize your practice time to reach your music performance goals. I welcome all musical styles and genres and work with musicians of all ages, including children, adolescents, adult learners, musicians learning secondary instruments or voice, professional musicians, beginner, intermediate, and advanced level musicians and singers, choristers, composers, and instrumentalists.

Music is truly a limitless art and communication form and each person is individual in their musical pursuits. Whether you are new to the study of music, prefer to learn, play, and express music by rote or by a standardized method, I am with you as you form and work toward your musical goals. My passions in music include piano, singing, and songwriting. I have studied voice and music theory at the graduate level. My heart work lies with music education, helping people derive joy as they realize their own capacity to enjoy music they perform, as well as their unlimited ability to create it, whether improvised or written. Part of my function as a music educator is to facilitate navigating a journey that is unique to the individual learner.

Shannon and I were in high school choir together. Even then, she was a fierce sight reader, singer, and overall musician. Our material was mainly advanced jazz arrangements, and she always knew her part and performed cleanly and consistently. She often helped other singers learn their parts. Shannon also studied AP Harmony in high school, which made her a beast at music theory. Now, with decades more experience and a music education degree under her belt, she's unstoppable. Shannon's personality is laid-back and with a sense of humor. But she will also push you to get where you need to go in your music education.
