About Desiree'
Hello!
My name is Desiree', and I am a graduate student studying Medical Sciences. I have been tutoring for 3 years and enjoy every year of it. My passion for teaching stems from going through my own journey of not understanding certain topics but I had amazing mentors and guides that helped me to master each of them. I aim to do the same in building your confidence and skills specifically in science and math topics.

As someone who always asks "Why?" I always start the lesson with an opener.
So the lesson would be like this
-Opener (a real-world problem) to engage the student and basically ask "Why are we learning this?"
-Then we make "notes" together (This is to have the student engage in the content rather than just a lecture)
-Then I will have the student watch me solve a problem
-The student and I will then do another problem together
-I will then have the student do some practice problems
-Then we will go back to the opener (Tie it all together), give some tips and tricks and any additional resources to help hone their skills.
*NOTE: This is the general structure; however, we may spend a longer time with certain steps depending on the topic. For example, math may be less time me doing a couple of problems to them doing more problems.
These lessons are for any grade between middle-college students. My main specialties are Science & Math. I also have experience in College/Career Development & Planning and SAT/ACT prep tutoring.
I want to emphasize that my adaptability sets me apart as a tutor. I know everyone has different styles of learning and even for me I need to be hands-on to learn. So if a student is having a hard time with the content we can always reset and find something that works for them. I believe that there is no being "bad" at a subject you just need to know your way of learning it.
