About Alexander

I have a degree in Mathematics from the University of Leeds. I have never lost my passion for my subject and love to share this passion with others. I am particularly interested in Logical Mathematics. I have previous experience in tuition for GCSE and A-Level Maths.

About the lesson

About Me I was born and raised in a small town called Todmorden in the UK. I studied Mathematics at Leeds University, and the subject became one of my lifelong passions. Ever since my degree I have kept my love for maths alive by seeking out discussions with fellow mathematicians, and by studying free courses online in my spare time, especially in financial mathematics. After finishing my degree, I found a job teaching English as a foreign language, which I adore and still do. Then, recently I decided that it was high time I went into the field of mathematics pedagogy and shared my passion with students of my own. A few more facts about me: music is another one of my great passions, and I believe that mathematics can have all the same beauty of great musical symphonies. Also, one of my greatest heroes is Alan Turing. What I offer I can give tuition on: all areas of Mathematics from 6th grade up to undergraduate level; all foundational areas of a mathematics university degree; and a select range of more specialised university-level fields, including: set theory, combinatorics, topology, graph theory and others. My Approach Everyone learns differently; everyone has different gaps in their knowledge and weak spots; for everyone there are different examples which best convey a concept. That’s why one-on-one tuition is far superior to a classroom environment. I believe in being highly sensitive to a student's specific needs, style of learning, strengths, and weaknesses; and conducting lessons in exact accordance with these things. I also believe a great teacher should be an entertainer, and I strive to make lessons genuinely fun and playful, and I like to add lots of humour and light-heartedness to lessons, no matter how advanced the content is. After all, I believe that maths is wonderful, and that I just need to help students see this.

Alexander and I studied mathematics together at university. He was always very knowledgable on any topic and his enthusiasm to assist myself and others was strong. He helped me tackle many complex problems, increasing my skills and confidence in writing solutions especially when it came to pure maths, proofs and logic.
