About Isabelle
Hello, i'm Isabelle and i study English Literature - the BEST degree if i may add!
I admire the flexibility of English, as you can make it what you want. There are no fixed right and wrong answers. This is something i wish i knew earlier on. Instead of re-writing the content onto the exam paper, I wish i could have found my own way of communicating my ideas clearly and confidently. Therefore, I aim to help my students to not only find their own unique way of understanding content, but to be able to carefully and clearly craft their own opinions with their own individual flair, through encouragement and constant exam based teaching.

Each lesson I do, is specifically developed for each student that I take on. We all learn at different speeds and in different ways, therefore, I always take the time to know my students and what makes them tick. I do however, advocate for exam practice lessons in any subject I teach as i find that this is the best way for students to learn/recap content AND understand exam questions i.e what the examiner looks for, how to structure their answers and what is expected off them.I like to test my students knowledge by asking open-ended questions - I find 90% of the time this works with all my English students as it allows them to be engage in their responses and enable a deeper understanding of content.
Building on a students level of perception when reading quotes/context of resources allows them to engage with specific texts from different angles that the average student would not pick up [this is where they will stand apart from other students, which examiners look for] - therefore, I encourage students to look at texts from different angles in order to improve their level of perceptiveness.
As someone who majors in English Lit in university that is 5th ranking in the UK for English - I understand the challenges of studying English students may face, however, as their tutor i will ensure that not only will their grades improve but their confidence and hopefully enjoyment of the subject shines through.
