About Cole

I have not yet tutored in any formal/professional capacity. Being that I am new to this online tutoring environment, I am seeking new (and hopefully regularly attending!) students. Over the last four years, I have been exposed to a number of approaches to teaching. Together we'll establish the one(s) which works best for you - ne vous inquietez pas (don't you worry).

About the lesson

Why, hello there budding linguists. :)

Language-acquisition beyond our mother-tongue can be an anxious undertaking. As a tutor, I endeavour to provide a non-judgemental setting for my students. Mistakes are never frowned upon here! Whenever we err, we have an opportunity to grow. Informed by an initial short assessment of proficiency, we will together devise a structured program based on the student's current lapses in understanding. I am happy to assign homework in varying degress, contingent on a student's availability and openess to it.

I have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in French from Queen Mary, University of London. I achieved first-class honors, the highest award available. Prior to this, I studied the language for five years at the UK equivalent of US high-school level. I also spent a semester abroad in Tours, France where I studied at Université François Rabelais in the Faculté de Lettres et Langues.

During my undergraduate studies, some of the modules/programs titles undertaken include:

'Lovers and Libertines: Eighteenth-Century French Fiction';
'Twentieth-Century French Thought: Language and Creativity';
'Proust';
'Memories of World War II in French Literature, Film and Art'

C'est parti!
(And we're off!)
