About Lisa
I studied English and History for a Master's Degree (M.Ed.) at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Since 2011, I have given tuition to numerous children, teenagers and adults in English, French and German. As such, I am familiar with learners who feel inhibited when speaking foreign languages, and know methods that can boost their confidence and ability.
In order to train as a teacher, I completed various internships at different kinds of schools and nurseries.
Prior to my studies, I completed a three-week internship at a primary and secondary school, where I first observed and then taught several lessons. I also did an internship at a school for children with special needs in Erlangen.
In 2014, I successfully applied for an eight-month foreign language assistant position at a Secondary Grammar School in England, which I later extended until May 2016. Most of my time was spent working with AS and A Level students, but I also worked with the Year 10 and 11 GCSE students and with some of the younger pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9.
Outside of the classroom, working with young people also forms part of my spare time activities. For 10 years I have volunteered at a summer camp for 9 to 15 year-olds, in which I am part of the manegerial team and plan and undertake activities with the children and teenagers.

My top priority is to help my students to succeed and meet their full potential. A relaxed and supportive learning environment is thus essential in the learning process, which is why I try and offer a diverse range of methods, tasks and input.
I can provide lessons to all ability groups in German and English and beginners in French. I am a native speaker of German and have a native speaker level in English. Since I studied English, I can also help students at university with their literature and linguistics courses.
Meeting up in Ayr is no problem. For travels beyond Ayr, I will have to ask for a small fee. However, I also offer webcam lessons, which are not restricted by location.

Perfect! Lisa is very helpful and tailors all material to suit my needs. We communicate by email due to the distance involved and this works very well. We can Skype if required. Lisa is always very prompt with her feedback and marking and I then get the next piece of work based on what she knows will move me forward. I am delighted with Lisa's help and support.
Perfect! We are immensely impressed with Lisa! She teaches our 11-year old daughter who is bilingual (English / German) but - as so many bilingual children - lacks basic grammar and struggles with spelling / writing. Since she started her Skype lessons with Lisa, she is progressing quickly and is developing a much deeper understanding of and love for German language. Lisa is great in engaging her, chooses appropriate exercises and most importantly, makes it real fun! She has a lovely personality and Orla loves spending time with her - she looks forward to her German lesson every week. Thank you!!
- Karin is the lovely mother of Orla, who I teach German. Orla is a very open and likeable girl and an enthusiastic learner. It was great getting to know her last week and I am very much looking forward to helping her achieve her short-term as well as long-term goals as a bilingual speaker.Lisa's response :
