About Barnaby
I am a former principal dancer with Scottish Ballet and Royal Ballet School alumni. I have spent many years working within a professional ballet company.
My experience has given me a clear understanding of the realities of a career in ballet, from training and auditions through to professional performance.
I now offer mentoring to support dancers as they navigate this path, providing honest, thoughtful guidance based on real experience. This is particularly valuable for young male dancers, who often have fewer role models within the profession.

I offer one-to-one mentoring sessions for dancers who are considering a professional career in ballet.
The path into the profession can feel unclear, and these sessions provide a space to ask honest questions and gain real insight into what a career in ballet involves. We can discuss training pathways, auditions, expectations within companies, and how to prepare both physically and mentally for the demands of the profession.
These sessions are particularly valuable for young dancers and parents who want guidance from someone with direct experience of the industry. I also offer support in building confidence, managing pressure, and developing a realistic and sustainable approach to training.
The free 30-minute session is an initial conversation to explore your goals and answer any key questions. These sessions are intended for those seriously considering further coaching or guidance.
