About Amanda
My name is Amanda. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with Secondary Education Certification. I also have been certified in teaching both AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics. After completing my undergraduate degree, I taught in a high school classroom for 11 years before leaving that setting to become a stay-at-home Mommy.
During my years of classroom teaching (2005 - 2016) I taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, PreCalculus, Probability & Statistics, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus AB. I have been tutoring consistently since 1997 and have tutored all of the subjects listed above as well as similar courses at the college level. I truly have a passion for explaining mathematics until my student(s) have a solid understanding and confidence in the material. I find sincere joy in seeing the excitement on a student's face when they truly understand a topic and are able to see improvement in their own performance. What an exciting time!

A typical tutoring session begins with working through some of the student's homework and/or examples from class. I then provide additional examples and practice, along with explanations as needed, until the student feels confident and displays mastery. I try to help the student feel at ease, showing grace for their mistakes and praising their successes.
