About Matthew
As a recent graduate who is working to become a qualified English teacher, I am extremely driven by the desire to deliver quality education to future generations. Coming from a working-class background to achieve a Masters Degree has taken years of commitment and consistent work ethic and is something that I am extremely proud of. Working with students for the last year, I am DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.

My lessons are tailored to each student, working individually to develop their English skills. I take a relaxed and empathetic approach, encouraging my students with praise and positivity and creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and enjoyment in lessons. I am currently learning from my fellow professions and mentors as I work towards my Qualified Teacher Status, and will be practicing my own knowledge and the techniques that I am learning to enhance the learning experience of each student. My lessons typically last an hour, however can be negotiated per student dependent on the material being taught etc. I have a Masters Degree in Film from University of Leicester and a First-class Joint-honours Degree in Media and Film from De Montfort University, as well as experience working in a school environment for the last year before beginning my course to become an English teacher. I teach secondary and GCSE English Language and Literature but I am always open to teach GCSE Media and Film.
