About Emma
I’m currently completing my Law Conversion in London after graduating with a First Class degree in Modern Languages from Durham University. Language and communication have always been at the centre of both my academic and professional life, and I genuinely enjoy helping others develop confidence in how they express themselves.
I have been tutoring for over eight years and love working with students of all ages. One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me is seeing students grow not only academically, but also in their confidence and enjoyment of learning over time.
I strongly believe that communication and reading are lifelong skills, and I aim to create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each individual student. Whether working on reading, writing, presentation skills, or overall confidence, I strive to help students feel comfortable, motivated, and proud of their progress.

I have over eight years of tutoring experience across a range of subjects, supporting students from as young as six years old in English Language tuition through to GCSE students aged 16 and above. Alongside this, I also support academic and professional communication, including presentation preparation, essay writing, and developing confidence in written and spoken English.
I tailor each lesson to the individual student, adapting sessions depending on their ability level, confidence, and personal interests to ensure lessons remain engaging, supportive, and effective. My teaching style is structured but approachable, with a strong focus on building confidence and helping students develop clear communication skills over time.
Typically, lessons last for one hour and cover a range of areas including reading, creative writing, textual analysis, essay structure, presentation skills, and overall clarity of expression. I aim to create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their skills, and making steady progress.
Having worked both as a tutor and as a long-term student of Modern Languages at Durham University, I understand that learning can sometimes feel challenging. My academic background has given me experience in explaining complex ideas in a clear and accessible way, while also helping me develop a range of teaching approaches that can be adapted to different learning styles.
