About Somila
I would like to introduce myself - hi there, I'm Somila, your prospective learning and accountability partner! I am an undergraduate student and am in the field of Film. Although that is my major, I also have research and essay writing subjects so I am actively writing and crafting my creative writing skills. Teaching is quite an intimate and interactive experience that I have come to value. Adding value and sharing perspective are just some of the things that excite me about teaching! I haven't taught professionally, however I have assisted my peers and family members in whatever academic sense that I could. That being said, I've been told that I am easy and comfortable and possess resilience that shows through how I explain and breakdown concepts. Also, I love dark chocolate :)

Making learning an active and pleasant experience is my goal. I make use of visual devices such as diagrams, flowcharts and colour to convey information in a cohesive manner.
My methodology is based on what type of learner you are and what will optimize your learning experience.
What I consider when teaching:
- Your learning style
- Your current understanding of the work
- Your strengths AND weaknesses
- How I can simplify the work as much as possible
- What methods allow you to retain information more effectively
Expect a briefing session whereby I find out what you are learning at the moment so that I can prepare the necessary material. In this briefing session, I also gauge what type of learner you are and what your intentions are with our learning time together.
I excelled in English after grade 9 and thereafter fell in love with the literature and the creative writing aspect of it as well. Thus obtaining distinctions in it. I aim to assist learners who are struggling to grasp the literature aspect of their syllabus. If you are in need of a helping hand and you are in grade 9-11, feel free to contact me! I'm open to teach any level other than what I've mentioned, provided you state what you will need assistance in!
