About Carlos

Stop losing games you should have won. Most players don't need more opening theory. They need to know what to look for in a position, how to calculate without panicking, and how to convert a winning endgame. That's exactly what we'll work on together.
I'm a FIDE Candidate Master (CM) rated 2200+, with experience in international tournaments. I co-founded Chess Brothers, a chess and fitness academy in Venezuela, and I've coached 18 students here on Superprof with a 5-star average. I'm also a systems engineer, so I teach chess as a set of clear, repeatable thinking steps, not as memorization.
Every plan starts from your own games. Before our first session I review a few of your games on Lichess or Chess.com and find the two or three habits that cost you the most points. Then each lesson mixes a short explanation, guided practice on positions from real games, and one concrete task for the week. I teach in English or Spanish.
Your first lesson is free. Send me your rating and your Lichess or Chess.com username, and I'll come with a plan made for you.

Each 60-minute lesson runs on Zoom or Google Meet with a shared Lichess board, so you move the pieces yourself instead of just watching.
What you'll work on depends on your level:
• Beginners (new to 1000): how the pieces work together, basic checkmates, the opening principles, and spotting one-move threats so you stop hanging pieces.
• Intermediate (1000–1600): the core tactics (forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks), a simple opening repertoire you understand instead of memorize, and the essential endgames (king and pawn, basic rook endings).
• Advanced (1600+): calculation with candidate moves, pawn structures and planning in the middlegame, practical rook endgames, and deep review of your tournament games.
A typical lesson: 10 minutes reviewing one of your recent games, 35 minutes on the topic of the day with positions you solve, and 15 minutes of training games or puzzles. After each lesson you get a short summary and two or three exercises for the week.
Book your free first lesson. Tell me your rating, your goal (a tournament, a rating target, or just enjoying the game more) and your Lichess or Chess.com username.
