Find out more about Haidir

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in the subjects I teach developed through years of study across a range of academic areas. I became passionate about private tutoring after seeing how quickly students could progress through my tailored teaching approach. Since then, I have continually refined my practice by researching effective pedagogical methods and learning to present complex ideas from multiple perspectives.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

The subjects I teach cover a broad curriculum, so the content varies according to each student’s programme of study. I particularly enjoy topics that invite thoughtful discussion or problem-solving, especially when students begin to make connections for themselves. I find material based mainly on repetition less engaging, although I recognise its importance and aim to give it a clear sense of purpose.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I have long been inspired by influential teachers and leaders of the late sixth to mid-seventh century. I particularly admire how they taught not only through words, but through the example of their own conduct. This has shaped my belief that a teacher’s influence extends beyond academic progress to the character and confidence a student develops.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs both strong subject knowledge and the ability to understand how each student learns. They should be patient enough to identify the source of a difficulty, then adapt their explanation without lowering expectations. Building trust is equally important, as students make the greatest progress when they feel comfortable asking questions and confident enough to learn from mistakes.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Some of the most valuable discussions begin with an incorrect answer. Rather than moving on, taking the time to explore the reasoning behind it can lead to a deeper understanding of the subject. A mistake often reveals more about how a student is thinking than a correct answer does.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Students often feel pressure to cover material quickly, even when gaps in their foundational knowledge remain. These gaps can ultimately prevent them from achieving the marks they are capable of.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

One of my passions is creating educational resources that make difficult material more accessible. I particularly enjoy designing original exam-style questions that test genuine understanding rather than simple familiarity. Seeing students use these resources independently and find them genuinely valuable has inspired me to continue developing materials beyond individual lessons.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?"

What makes me a Superprof is the combination of high expectations and individual attention I bring to each lesson. I take time to understand how my students approach their subjects, then shape my teaching around what will help them progress most effectively. Working with Superprof has allowed me to connect with students and families who value this considered approach, and I appreciate being part of a platform that makes those relationships possible.
