About Isabel

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

Engineering background — strong analytical thinking, logic, and problem-solving

Project management experience — structured sessions, clear objectives, and measurable progress

Multilingual tutor (English, French, Spanish) with deep understanding of language learning challenges

Clear and structured explanations — ideal for complex material and academic work

Supportive and patient, especially for students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disorganized

Focus on confidence and independence, not just short-term fixes

This combination helps students who struggle with structure, clarity, or organization make steady, visible progress.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is structured, adaptive, and student-centered. I focus on helping students understand how to think, organize ideas, and express themselves clearly — not just on memorization or correcting mistakes.

I combine:

clear explanations adapted to the student’s level

guided practice with real examples

active participation (you’re never just listening)

constructive feedback focused on progress and confidence

I adjust my pace and methods depending on whether the student needs support, consolidation, or challenge, and I always make sure the session feels focused but not overwhelming.

A Typical Lesson Plan

Each lesson is tailored, but usually follows this structure:

Check-in & objectives
We clarify what you want to work on and what success looks like for that session.

Targeted explanation
I explain concepts clearly using examples that make sense for you (academic, professional, or everyday contexts).

Practice & application
We work through exercises, texts, or assignments together — step by step.

Feedback & refinement
I help you identify what’s working, what to improve, and how to improve it.

Wrap-up & next steps
You leave knowing exactly what you’ve learned and what to focus on next.

Sessions are efficient, calm, and focused on real improvement, not pressure.

Ricardo

I worked with Isabel during my first year of Physics at McGill, mainly for help with structuring my problem explanations and improving my academic writing. University-level physics moves fast, and I sometimes understood the concepts but struggled to communicate them clearly in lab reports and written assignments.
What stood out was how structured and logical her sessions were. Her engineering background really shows — she helped me break down complex ideas into clear steps and explain my reasoning more effectively. That made a big difference in how confident I felt submitting my work.
She’s patient, focused, and very good at adapting explanations to your level. I would highly recommend her to first-year university students, especially in technical or scientific programs.
