About Leslie
I started teaching as a graduate teachign assistant at the University of Iowa. There, I have taught three semesters worth of undergraduate chemistry courses as a TA. I have also worked as an assistant in English language courses in Argentina at a teacher training college.
I believe that my interest in both the sciences and language learning allows me to have a rather unique approach to my teaching. During my time in college, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain, for a semester. After graduation, I enrolled in graduate school where I am working towards a PhD in chemistry, specializing in chemistry education. This means I study how students learn chemistry and how we can improve chemistry instruction to maximize every student's experience in the classroom. During my time as a graduate student, I have worked as a teaching assistant and held office hours to support students. In 2020, I received a Fulbright grant which allowed me to spend time teaching English in Argentina for 8 months. Although incredibly different, I love tutoring chemistry, Spanish, and English.
