About Katie
I am a 5th grade teacher and have been working at Westborough Public Schools for 4 years. I have a Masters degree in Special Education and a Bachelors in Elementary Education both from Boston College.
I love working with Elementary School students to develop their love of learning, especially in the areas of reading, writing, and math!
One of my favorite learning experiences is running book clubs throughout the school year with my students. I would love to run summer book clubs as well and can use them to focus on reading comprehension, writing, and all sorts of other skills!

One of my favorite parts about working with students is developing relationships with them. We learn so much more from people we trust! That is always my first priority when working with a new student.
Academically, I start by getting to know how a new student feels about their strengths in the area we're working on. Then, I will assess their understanding in a low stakes way, such as through a game or other fun activity. This allows me extra insight into their abilities. I discuss goals with the student and we make a plan for our time together.
