About Danielle
I am a dual certified childhood/special education teacher. I have worked in the special education field for 8 years. I currently work at a special education school in Manhattan. My experience and passion in this field is what makes me stand out as a tutor. I specialize in tutoring children with special needs from ages 5-15 who need help in any or all subject areas. I work with the child’s school and parents to determine the best way to achieve their goals in our tutoring sessions.
I love watching a student understand a certain topic after working towards a specific goal. It can be so rewarded for both the student and others involved to watch just a small victory occur.
I currently attend New York University. My major is Childhood Education and Special Education. I have also worked at a special education school in Manhattan for seven years so I have extensive experience working in the special education field.

Before meeting the student, I like to get a sense of their educational needs by speaking to the parents and sometimes the school(if I feel it would be helpful). During my first meeting with the student I spend some time getting to know them and then begin with some diagnostic work to determine their skill level. After our first meeting I usually speak with the parents to discuss our tutoring session and how I can be of help.
I currently work with a child who needs help in mathematics. When we first started our sessions, the goal was to develop a strong number sense through basic subtraction facts. At first she struggled and became frustrated almost immediately. After a while of learning different strategies and taking our time to become comfortable with them, she had her “aha” moment. I knew this because she looked at me and said, “this is so easy.”
