About Jeremy

Since graduating from Pepperdine University in 2021 with a double major in Composition and Advertising and training at the Varna Bulgaria Film Scoring Workshop in 2018, I am uniquely positioned to help my students not only build their skill pallete but also to market themselves and develop professional skills as a freelance creator.

I'm experienced in audio engineering and music production, theory, orchestration & formatting, music for film theatre & podcasts, and songwriting as part of my composition lesson offering.

This year I was hired to compose for three plays/musicals, I composed for two podcasts and I worked/am working two audio engineering positions. On the concert music side, I recently collaborated with the Escalera Quartet to premier my String Quartet no. 1, and I just finished writing my Symphony no. 1 which will be performed by the Pepperdine Wind Ensemble this spring.

As a composer for the concert hall and for media, I draw inspiration from nature, my favorite string quartet literature, and electronic music. I am endlessly inspired by each freelance project I work on, because collaborating with other creative people is a rewarding experience for me. Composition is my lifestyle, I feel free to explore and express in my work, and I believe that I am making a positive difference in the world through what I do.

My teaching journey really began by giving spontaneous piano lessons for free. Since then, as my professional career has developed, I've had the opportunity to help my students develop skills in many different areas of the music creation process: music analysis and structure for composition, audio recording and production, and electronic music creation in the pop and EDM world.



I'm a freelancer, a working music professional with solid grounding in music academia. Just this year I wrote the music for three plays, two of which had origional songs and lyrics. I've worked on two podcasts as the composer, and I've done three indie films. On the classical side, I recently collaborated with the Escalera Quartet to premier my String Quartet no. 1, and I just finished writing my Symphony which I'm arranging to be performed by a wind ensemble. I've studied composition and advertising at Pepperdine University, and I worked with a studio orchestra at the Varna Bulgaria Film Composition Workshop. I have taken piano lessons for 12 years, and I'm currently teaching myself cello which I use frequently in recording sessions.

The first step is always having a conversation with my student to see what their interests and skills are, and what goals they have. These conversations shape the direction of the training, since composers need to have both a broad skill set and unique specialties.



I've had the opportunity to help my students develop skills in many different areas of the music creation process: music analysis and structure for composition, audio recording and production, and electronic music creation in the pop and EDM world. I'd be interestred in taking on students who want to hone their songwriting skills for any genre, their theory skills, or more advanced composition for concert music.
