About Tom
I have been tutoring since 2011, usually students from SATs to A-Level but I have also worked with adults to help them improve their numeracy.
I am an engineer with a specialisation in electric cars and sustainability, holding an MEng in Automotive Engineering with Sustainability from the University of Warwick.
I have worked extensively on STEM programmes throughout my career, and am currently Engineering Education Scheme Coordinator at a large engineering firm.
I also am currently Technical Director of an environmental education company and an award winning science writer.

I teach by asking questions, getting them to tell me the answer, build connections in their mind and demonstrate the application of the topic so they buy into learning it, rather than begrudgingly learning facts and memorising methods.
In my experience the students I teach don't struggle with the content but with the way it is taught and the belief that has been instilled within them that they cannot do it. Finding the best way they learn and getting them to believe they can is usually the key.
