About Turley
I love helping students learn! I’m very patient, and use different methods of teaching with each student. I have a graduated high school with endorsements in STEM, Public Services and Arts and Humanities. I’ve been tutoring for 3 years now, and I just love the satisfaction that the student feels once they finally understand a concept they never thought they would! Over all, I’m here to help wherever I can!
I’ve helped out my friends with schoolwork as long as I can remember, and a couple years ago I really wanted to make it official!
I took all AP classes in high school, and I have tutored for about 3 years now. I really like helping people learn, and the over all process is fun!

First, I look over their school homework to see what they’ve been working on & I ask them what they don’t understand.
Lots of times, students say they don’t understand everything, so I start with the basics to make sure they have a strong foundation.
Then, we continue by going over their school work so we can really find the weakest points of their understanding and focus on that.
Before we finish, I like for the student to teach me. I normally print out some worksheets that encompass all we’ve gone over, and have the student explain to me step by step the solution to each problem!
Lastly, we go over the big picture. Make sure they understand that math is like a puzzle, and that each piece they put together (each concept they learn) fits in a larger scheme of things! This is where the student really gets to shine and show off all the mastery of the material! This is my favorite part of the process!!
I have worked with students all over the spectrum! Some students that I have worked with had cheated their way past classes, and had no idea what they were doing when we started. I have also worked with students who had a rough foundation, but a general understanding of the concepts. I have also worked with students who were at the top of their class and wanted to be extra better!
Every student is different, and so is every teacher. Don’t stop at the first person you see, make sure you are sure that this is someone that you can spend hours a week with because you WANT to, not because you have to. Overall, you both have to be willing to make the experience worth it! Learning can be fun, but it also takes work!

Details
The price really depends on each student. The lessons are an hour and a half long, which includes a 10 minute break in between, and the first lesson is only $5. This is so that the student gets a feel for how things will be, and then they and their parent can decide if they want to continue with the process. If they decide to continue, then the prices for the rest of the lessons will depend on what I have gathered about the student in that first hour and a half:
If the student has a great foundation and just need a simple overview to master their knowledge, then it will be about $10 an hour.
If the student has a decent foundation, and really wants to learn more and master their knowledge, it will be about $12 an hour.
If the student doesn’t have a good foundation, and really needs more in depth tutoring, it will be about $15 an hour.
