About Dayadna
Hi! My name is Dayadna (Day) Hernandez, and I am a University of Florida graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a concentration in Medical Physics, graduating with honors and a 3.9 GPA. For over six years, I have provided individualized academic support across mathematics, sciences, and Spanish helping students build confidence and succeed through personalized one-on-one tutoring.
My tutoring spans through Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Spanish for learners of all levels. As both a former peer STEM tutor and an independent tutor for high-school and college students, I believe mathematics should be understood, not memorized. While many students are taught to follow a series of steps, my goal is to help them understand the reasoning behind those steps so they can confidently solve new and unfamiliar problems on their own.
Having studied and taught mathematics in both Cuba and the United States, I have been exposed to different educational systems and problem-solving methods. This allows me to explain the same concept in multiple ways and adapt my teaching to each student’s learning style. If one explanation doesn’t click, we’ll find another approach that does.
Rather than focusing on getting the right answer, I focus on identifying the root of a student’s confusion and building a logical understanding of the concept. Once students truly understand why something works, they no longer need to rely on memorization, they can think through problems independently and with confidence.
As a native Spanish speaker, I can provide instruction in English, Spanish, or a combination of both, helping students learn in the language they feel most comfortable with.
My goal is simple: not to teach students what to think, but how to think.
