About Austin
If you're in the process of taking algebra or calculus classes and feel that you don't quite grasp certain concepts, then you're not alone. My mission has always been to teach math classes in a way that makes sense to the student, rather than regurgitating information from a textbook. I am a mechanical engineering student that has had my fair share of math classes (along with sub-par professors), which has strengthened my ability to understand math in a simplified and direct manor. As an active student, I feel that I have the ability to teach in a way that relates much better with students, since we have similar minds. I only work with a small group of students at a time, to make sure that I deliver the best results by understanding the needs of each individual.
After taking calculus, I helped a few of my friends through the class. I noticed quickly that there are better methods of teaching the class than how teachers are told to do it. A good friend of mine said "hey you should really start doing this regularly", so here I am.
I have taken all math courses through Calc III. Algebra classes and Calculus I are subjects that feel natural to me, so those are my main targets. I am a sophomore in college pursuing a degree in Mechanical engineering.

At first, I will spend a bit of time getting to know my new student. Understanding the personality of a person allows me to decide on how I will approach the teaching process. After the introduction, we will look at the areas that need work, and go from there. The process is different for each person.
I've worked with students between the ages of 13 and 22, all with different degrees of understanding. Some just needed help over one concept, while others needed comprehensive help over a whole subject.
Make sure that a tutor you are looking at has relevence to your life. From my experience, I've noticed that personal connection is pivital when it comes to the learning process. On top of that, always check their credentials. Someone that is actively working with maths will be more knowledgeable and helpful.
I have always been into cars. Last week a group of friends and I took a cruise through the mountains. Driving around with friends and talking it up is one thing that I truly love.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before coming to a tutor, make sure that you have your topics ready. For example, come into a lesson saying "I'm a bit fuzzy on the derivative quotient rule." If you have a focused area of needs, the teaching process will become a lot smoother.
