About Andy
I started teaching consistently at Valencia College. In 2014 I was presented with a volunteer opportunity to tutor math students and fulfill some requirements for the Bridges to Success program. I quickly decided I liked what I was doing and applied for a paid position for the next school year. Over the years my passion for tutoring and education has grown to a point where I decided to start my own business, pick up another major, and pursue a Ph.D. in graduate school after I get my bachelor’s degree.
I have 5 years of experience tutoring at Valencia College and 3 years experience tutoring on my own. The subjects I can tutor are geometry, intermediate algebra, college algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus I, II & III, physics I & II, ordinary differential equations I, introduction to chemistry, chemistry I and II, and Spanish language. I also have provided tutoring in English and Spanish for better convenience and comfort of the student.

Before we start scheduling sessions I like to meet with the student and/or parent(s). We work with the student to come up with a detailed description of the current situation and the desired results. Next, we come up with a set of goals and plan of action needed to accomplish said results. This plan depends on the needs of the student, but most include some sort of schedule plus pre and post-session communication to track progress.
I mostly work with students taking college level math, science, and engineering courses. But also have experience with middle and high schoolers taking math and science classes.
Make sure your teacher is passionate about teaching!
Also, before hiring any teacher, it is advisable that the student reads the material, highlighting the important points and identifying the concepts they are struggling with. In this way, the tutoring session will be more productive for the student.
Last semester I had a student that had taken two years off from school and jumped right into a Calculus II (!!!!!) class with one of the toughest professors on her campus. We were battling all semester for her to pass, but in the end she did it!
