About Sophia
Hi! My name is Sophia Garcia and I am a first-year physics major at UCI. I am highly proficient in high school physics. I have taken physics every year of high school at increasing difficulty. My achievements include: an A+ and 3 in AP Physics 1 when I was sixteen, an A+ and 4 in AP Physics C Mechanics when I was seventeen, and an A+ and 5 in AP Physics C Electricity and Magnetism when I was eighteen. I have loved math and science my whole life and it is my dream to pursue higher education and academia in physics. My math knowledge is up to second-semester calculus currently (Calc BC). My talents however lie in scoring high in AP physics tests and I used to tutor my schoolmates in physics. I also was my physics teacher's TA in my senior year, which helped me develop skills in specifically teaching students (often people my own age) AP Physics 1. I feel that I am highly proficient in high school physics and have firsthand experience with the AP tests. This is important because AP test scores are more and more valued in college applications. I saw plenty of highly impressive students who did not get into a single UC, because of their AP test scores. Even after getting into college, AP test scores are extremely important. AP test scores can often give students a head start over their peers. Myself and many of my peers are quarters or even years ahead of their collegiate peers solely because of our AP test scores. Colleges that are highly valued like UCI do not accept 3's and even 4's, so a high, perfect score is really important in getting ahead and skipping GE's. This not only puts students ahead but also saves money. I believe I could help your student achieve these impressive, high scores in AP physics.
