About Hannah
I am a senior Mathematics major at Winthrop University. I started working at my campus tutoring center three years ago. In those years, I have tutored a number of students in calculus one and two. I find it rewarding to help others realize that math can be enjoyable and challenging. I have taken leadership classes at my school to better my ability to communicate information. Through the classes I have also become a certified CRLA level 3 tutor. My efforts have been recognized by the students I tutor and my supervisors because I have been nominated for Winthrop's tutor of the year award. I believe that everyone is capable of learning if they have a growth mindset and a little guidence.
Having a student reach a moment of clarity is what I live for when tutoring. I love to hear that a student understands, but it is even more satisfying to see the progress each student makes.
I am in my final semester of pursing my Bachelors degree in Mathematics. I have tutored at my school for three years for the calculus one and two courses offered. I have also recently started to work at my school drop in tutoring center. For drop in tutoring in have experience helping with college algebra, calculus, and probability.

My first question is always "what have you learned so far?" I follow this up by asking them to write down all of the topics from memory. Afterwards I go through and fill in the things that they missed but should have covered in the corse. Once the list is completed I ask the student to rank the topics from lowest to highest based on their comfort and familiarity. This helps me to see where the student feels like they stand in the class. Based on the ranking response I ask a few questions and determine how far back our tutoring needs to start. Math builds on itself so I believe it is important to go back and fill in the foundation, not just move forward.
I have worked with college students. A few have been none traditional but most have been in the age range of 18-21.

Hannah is very patient and will work at a good pace to insure that you better understand the subject. She is knowledgeable and passionate about math.
My tutor was great at helping me with calculus and did not get frustrated even though I make lots of careless errors.
When she explains things they are easier to understand
Would help me with homework problems or if I didn't have any specific problems would make problems up for me to do for practice.
