About Tony
I am a graduate student in plasma physics at the University of New Hampshire. I've had 5 students so far in everything from AP physics to engineering thermodynamics. I focus on fundamental concepts and problem solving strategies, making sure students understand the questions and not just getting lost in the numbers.
I work in and around the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. I have an office on the UNH campus where students can meet me, or I can travel to them for an additional fee. I prefer communication via email and can most reliably be reached that way.
I have a BS in Physics from the University of Iowa with minors in mathematics, computer science, and creative writing. In New England I have two years experiance as a tutor and teaching assistant at the University of New Hampshire in laboratory and classroom settings. In addition, I have more than 10 years experiance with designing and leading outreach activities and programs in science and the arts.

First meetings usually involve a frank discussion of what had led the student to seek tutoring. Most people don't start looking for additional instruction until things have already slipped a fair amount. The first goal is to recognize where the issues are and work on a plan for improvement.
The majority of my teaching and tutoring has been with college undergraduate students. Recently I have tutored a student in High School AP Physics.

Details
While I am willing to negotiate pricing depending on individuals' situations, recent fees have been $30/hr. An additional fee of $5-10 may be added if I will be expected to travel to the student rather than meeting on campus.
