About Rachel
I have been tutoring for about 6 years now, on and off, and I have found that one-on-one learning is incredibly beneficial for students struggling in the classroom setting. By working together in a more personal setting, my students and I can truly get to the root of every misunderstanding.
I find satisfaction in discovering the teaching method that works best for each student. My belief is that anybody can thrive in mathematics if they are taught with their learning style in mind.
I am a senior in BYU's Applied Mathematics program. I have done one-on-one tutoring for six years, and have yielded fantastic results. About five of those six years have been in-person private tutoring for my clients, friends, and family. Additionally, I was a Computer Science tutor through the company Juni Learning for a little over one year.

I begin with introductions, which includes getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses. Once I know what area of math the student needs help with, I will do my own personal study of the subject and break it down slowly for the student. I will work through homework assignments, guiding the student, but not spoon feeding them answers. In addition to homework assignment, I find and create extra material to give students practice in the areas where it is most needful. I encourage my students to send me their coursework ahead of time so I can ensure I truly understand what they are learning before I attempt to teach.
