About Jenny
Hi, my name is Jenny.
Nice to "meet" you!
I own/run Chicago Flute Academy. At Chicago Flute Academy, I strive to build a foundation in tone, technique, and musicality in all of my students. I also focus on enjoyment, and tailor each lesson to the individual student. My teaching style is patient, nurturing, and supportive.
Chicago Flute Academy seeks to provide its students with the best experience possible, recommending quality pieces, equipment, and extracurricular experiences for the students. Chicago Flute Academy specializes in preparing students for success in school band, honing the technique of flutists ready to take their playing to the next level, starting beginners on a path to musical enjoyment, and working with adults new and returning to the flute.

I find teaching very rewarding. I love helping my students feel confident when learning music. I also enjoy my work because the more I put into it, the more I feel support from my community. I love to be helpful to others, and I'm happy to connect my students to the best resources possibe, as well as promote local music businesses and assist music programs in the city. For me, teaching is about building relationships, friendships, and community around a love a music.
I've had an interest in teaching for most of my life. Even when I was still a young student, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I've been growing as an educator for years, and continue to keep on learning from my students and experiences.

I have worked with a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. Student goals have included: improvising, jazz, classical, band and orchestra, ABRSM exams, pan flute...
I work with both children and adults of all levels, ages (toddler to seniors), and direction in life.
Find someone who can help you achieve your personal goals! You'll want to click with your teacher on a personal level as well. Imagine hiring a teacher who can help you look forward to lessons every week!
I also think it's important that you find a teacher who makes you feel comfortable and who listens to you. You want to work with someone who can cut to the chase and give feedback in a kind way, without personal judgement or belittling. Fun is also important.
Work with someone who paces lessons well, and keeps things flowing and interesting.
Find someone kind, patient, and knowledgeable who will help you build confidence, love the process, and enjoy playing an instrument.
Our studio put on a recital with a harpist last Spring (2018), which was so lovely. It was so nice to have everyone there for that special experience. Many of the kids had never seen a harp before up close, and everyone was so happy to have the opportunity to perform with the harp.
