About Shemaia
I am a licensed NYC educator. I have obtained my Bachelor's in English and my Master's in Teaching with an ELA concentration. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a private tutor for all ages.
My experience both in and out of the classroom coupled with my passion for helping students achieve their goals has proven to be a successful combination.
I have always had a passion for words, whether reading or writing in any form. I take joy in sharing my passion with others.
I love being able to see my students make progress. That "lightbulb" moment when they are able to make connections and build their knowledge of a subject always makes the hardwork worth it.
Being able to see tangible progress in my students is honestly what keeps me going. During my four years of teaching and my many years of tutoring, I have been able to not only help my students' reading and writing levels increase, but their confidence as well.
