About Annette
I was a high school English teacher for 5 years with experience in Honors and AP.
I excel in writing help for essays and creative writing.
I have tips and tricks for reading comprehension and ways to engage with the homework so it not only makes sense but is interesting and fun.
I have always been teaching. I started as a dancer teacher in my teens. I taught English as a second language in Rome, Italy for half a year. I am a certified yoga instructor and taught for a while, and finally, I taught high school English for 5 years.
I am a certified high school English teacher and taught at SMMUSD for 5 years full time in the general education classroom as well as the collaborative special education/general education classroom. I also taught English as a second language in Italy.

Initally, I want us to get to know each other a little because working together is always more effective when the environment is inviting and when students know you are coming from a place of care.
Then we start with talking about what they'd like to get better at. I have them show me work they've gotten back so I can assess where they're at. Finally, we look at the new assignments they have and work through them together. I make sure to check for understanding as we go through everything so that they master the content as we go.
I've worked with all types of students in the 5 years I've taught. It is ciritcal, as a teacher, to be able to connect with all my students and understand their learning habits and the difficulties they have in access the information. Because of this, I make sure to teach the information in various ways because everyone learns differently and at a different speed.
Find a teacher who you connect with first. You won't learn as much from someone you don't like. Then, make sure the teacher is able to explain the content in a way that makes sense to you so that you can do it on your own a little better next time around.
