About Taylor
My service stands out because I am still in highschool. Most parents or guardians that want a tutor for their child want someone who is a more educated adult, but I believe it is more beneficial to have a highschool student because your child and the tutor can continue learning and growing together instead of seperately. I am a junior in highschool with straight A's. I tutor my friends and classmates whenever an exam is creeping up on us or if they are struggling to get a grasp on the material. I love tutoring because it is an easy way to make money while spreading my knowledge and helping others, which happens to be something I enjoy doing. I will help students achieve their goals by walking them through the process at their own personalized pace, making sure they understand the material, and simply seeing myself as a friend who is helping them out. I find especially with younger children that they feel they aren't smart enough or good enough because of the fact that they have a tutor, so I like to see myself as another classmate guiding them.
What I enjoy most about being a tutor is seeing the students growth. I absolutely love when a student has that 'light bulb' moment where everything clicks and they finally understand. It really is a good feeling to see someone else be proud of themself because you helped them. That is what I strive to accomplish when working with each and every one of my students.

When working with a new student, first I start by having them fully explain their areas of struggle, what parts of the material they do not understand, and the type of environment and teaching strategies that they learn best in so that I can get a good grasp on what I am working with. I also like to have the student set goals so that they have something to aim and work for. Then I normally make a scheduled plan for how many days and how many hours each day it will take for the student to completely understand the material and achieve their goals (taking into consideration how much the family can afford). Next, I start to get to work with the student. Depending on whether they need help with homework or they need extra practice, I will create one-pagers of questions, techniques to help improve skills, problems to solve step by step (typically for math), etc. This is a base outline of how I would start tutoring. Plans and work may fluctuate based on student growth and understanding.
