About Stacia
Welcome! I’m Stacia Orock- I have loved illuminating light on the topic of essential life skills in the online environment since 2020. My classroom has expanded to diverse learners from over 30 countries.
I was born in Pennsylvania, studied Speech Pathology and American Sign Language for some time in North Carolina, and completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Event Management from the University of Central Florida where I also worked for a mouse... You may have guessed it- I was a Walt Disney World Cast Member!
I was heavily immersed in the hospitality industry, and there, is where I developed my passion for vital interpersonal skills. A change in career and personal growth opportunities has brought my global classroom and family to the American West, Las Vegas, Nevada.
My other passions include summiting mountain peaks, exploring national parks, entrepreneurship, family, running, swimming, and world travel. I’ve visited 16 countries and there are so many more I want to experience.
Alongside working for Disney, my distinctive professional experiences include leading event operations; communicating to various audiences through digital content; teaching and tutoring learners from pre-K to graduate school, and creating instructional curricula. I even had the extraordinary opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills at 40,000 feet in the sky as an International Flight Attendant. To add to my "jack of trades", I'm a voice actor! My favorite part of every career path is the team aspect and I love to teach about the importance of creativity and collaboration with learners.

Teaching Philosophy
Engagement and encouragement are the top principles I utilize in my teaching approach. I promote active listening, participation, and enthusiasm while advocating for learners’ critical thinking. I have volunteered and worked with young learners from the age of fifteen as a designated swimming instructor and coach for my community's unserved community center. I also began teaching my self-designed, individualized American Sign Language courses by sixteen. I babysat young children during this time as I was equipped with CPR and safety training. Once I was in college, I worked with the youth chapter of Charlotte North Carolina's regional Deaf community. Then, I began working at the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts, where I served in my roles as a lifeguard and concierge. I worked as an activities coordinator/concierge for young children visiting the parks and resorts. My roles at Disney allowed me to interact with and entertain children of all ages on a day-to-day basis. I have worked with young learners in the online environment by beginning my career with learners (and adults) aboard, teaching English as a second language and Foreign Language at the beginning of 2020. I began designing my curricula in 2020 and, I am an active member on various online platforms. I tutor many subjects and teach my independently-designed courses on social and life skills. I hold certifications in TESL, TESOL, and TEFL; I am a certified, 1-on-1 tutor in the following subject areas: Audition Prep, College Application, and Essay Assistance; Elementary, Middle, and High School English; Resume Writing and Study, Test Prep, and Organization Skills.
My academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree in Event Management earned in 2016. I also hold TESOL, TESL, and TEFL English Language Certifications, which are current, no-expiring certifications and were earned in 2020/21. Additionally, I am a certified American Sign Language Level I instructor, earned in 2020. I am certified as a Reading, Writing, English Language Arts, and Study and Organizational Skills Tutor since 2021. Lastly, I am a certified professional resume writer and reviewer. I have assisted numerous students, from high school to graduates, with their entry into universities, internships, and job placement both inside and outside of the United States.

1. Upon signing the tutor/teaching agreement, I reach out to the student/client by informing them of my credentials, teaching style, and philosophy. I ask that they respond to the following questions:
What are some of your academic strengths and challenges?
What are your learning objectives to meet your learning goals?
What is your identified learning style?
How do you perform on assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams?
What is your timeframe for meeting your learning goals?
2. I then respond with the following email for confirmed scheduling:
Hello [student/client name(s)]
It’s great to meet you over email. My name is Stacia Orock- I’m [student's name] assigned [Tutoring subject/class name] tutor. I have requested to meet for once-weekly sessions with [student's name] beginning [day and time].
If [day and time] work recurringly at this time frame, please confirm our recurring sessions by responding to this email and pre-paying upon receipt of our tutoring agreement and invoice.
I follow the following cancelation policy; all confirmed client-canceled sessions within 48 hours of our session start time are eligible for no repayment. I’m available by a scheduled phone call if you would like to further discuss your expectations for [student's name] tutoring.

3. During the first session, the student and I take the first few moments of the session to get to know one another through "icebreakers". We then turn our focus to an applicable activity/reading passage/organization strategy to access the student's level and needed areas of support.
I am passionate about coaching learners on the essential topic of social and life skills. My classes range from instructing tools and strategies to developing a strong sense of one's transferable skills, known as soft skills. I inform learners about the importance of study strategies, harnessing learning through an individual's learning style, and "best practices" to test prep. Additionally, I teach classes on creative, expository, informative writing, conventions of writing, grammar and syntax, phonetic and decoding development in early education, reading comprehension, literacy, literary analysis, and more language arts development. My experiences teaching students in these subject areas range from age three to young adults in undergraduate and graduate universities. I enjoy working with learners of all ages and learning abilities. My recent fondest event dates back to this summer over the fourth of July holiday. My parents and other close relatives live on the east coast while my small family and I live in the southwest. We often get together for this annual occasion. My childhood while growing up in western Pennsylvania meant so much to me during summer. This is the main reason my family and I travel to our PA relatives every July. Fireflies are prevalent in the summer time and this year, we chose to spend our independence day holiday in Niagara and Toronto, Canada. My fondest memory was of my niece exploring these cities and the immense interest she has in nature, especially fireflies who love the humid and often, rain-showered summers.

Details
Yes, I invoice my clients monthly at the rate of $140 for a once, weekly hour session ($35 per 1-hour session). Pre-paid sessions are subject to cancellation by the client or instructor from the time of payment up until 48 hours (2 business days) prior to the confirmed session start time. Canceled sessions by the instructor within 48 hours of the confirmed session are subject to repayment or rescheduling of the session. Canceled sessions by the client within 48 hours of the confirmed session are subject to no repayment and no rescheduling of the canceled or missed session. No-shows of the student are subject to an additional $15 fee, posted to the next recurring pre-paid invoice.
