About Alexandra

I graduated high school this year with a 4.0. I understand how to connect with students and help them understand the material. I've always excelled in all areas of English, especially creative writing, Shakespeare, and all areas of essay writing. I love helping students and I believe the real value in education is understanding the material, not just passing tests.

I enjoy helping students understand such an important subject that a lot of people need extra help in. I believe there's a lot of value in getting extra help with English because it can set you apart from other college candidates if you're a terrific essay writer. Additionally, it's a subject you'll use forever and it's important to be skilled in it.

I started tutoring my friends first because I saw they were struggling and since English comes so easy to me I knew I could help. I helped with essay writing technique and grammar. Then I started tutoring even more students and I found that I really love to help.

I have a high school diploma. I have a lot of experience working with all types of students.

About the lesson

I usually start by figuring out how a student learns best. If they need examples or if I can explain it verbally, I'll cater to their needs. Then from there, I can see how much the student understands about the subject already and then I can help them work on their weaknesses. For me, it's all about getting to know what kind of student you are before I can begin helping you.

I've worked with students that are failing and helped get them to, at the very least, an 80% in the class. I've only worked with high school students but I'm confident that I could assist middle school students as well.

I have expertise in a number of subjects but I've observed that a number of students have trouble with essay writing. I would advise a student looking for a tutor to focus first on their grammar and range of vocabulary. Those are only the bare essentials when it comes to a strong essay, but it's something a lot of students forget. An exceptional vocabulary can elevate your writing.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should think through their own weaknesses and be honest with themselves so they can present that to a teacher. They should also think about how they learn best so they can get better tutoring. Students who have trouble in school often have teachers that don't teach to their specific needs, like visual or auditory learning. Having a tutor that can cater to your needs is a huge benefit, so you should be sure to bring up your educational needs.
