About Brian
Programming is a really fun challenge, and it starts with the fundamentals. Don't just learn by example; learn how and why your programming language does its job, and it will make learning a new language easier. I focus on teaching students working at the undergraduate level.
I've been writing code since I was a kid, which was some thirty years ago! I've written resilient and performant code for trading stocks at a hedge fund, collecting and searching millions of events to look for bad actors in a system, and automating network fixes and checks.
I've spent years learning the ins and outs of lots of computer languages and technologies, and I love seeing the "ah-ha" moment when I can get a smidge of that knowledge to spark the right idea in a new programmer.
I have been a software developer in industry for 20 years, writing code mainly in C, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python, but also touching on C++ and Golang.

I always like to see what problem or assignment the student's working with and coach them through the concepts that solve that particular problem. Teaching to core concepts (where possible) leads to better chances of solving different problems in the future.
More experience usually helps, but your tutor should be a good communicator with visual explanations.
