About Matthew
American Legacy Theatre is theatre for social change. We create unconventional experiences that are full accessible to all people so all people have a voice in improving society for all people.
Our Producing Artistic Director is well versed and trained in theatre not practiced and heavily practiced in America. Not just Meisner, Matthew can lead people through true Strasberg Method, Biomechanics, Mime, Mask, Lecoq, Lessac, etc. A.L.T. will work with you 1:1, in a class or somewhere in between.
Matthew was one of four artists selected to be a USA delegate at the UNESCO ITI Research Lab in Romania, named by IACE as Promising Artist of the 21st Century, and has worked around the world.

I've been teaching since day 1 it seems - Purdue University for formal teaching, 1:1 professional artists, grade school children and those in the corporate space.
I have my MFA in Acting, toured around the world and was one of four artists asked to represent the USA with UNESCO.

Every process is unique. That said:
1. Student should contact me with a goal or problem in mind (ie learning new skill, hone audition piece or professional speech, explore range of instrument, etc)
2. Student should also provide timeline they are on if they have one.
3. We meet in person or via video.
4. We discuss goals, appropriate course of action, and rates.
5. Can do a sample class, at times, to ensure good fit on both sides
There have not been a student yet I could not work with if open to self-improvement.
You need someone who can make you feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable and uncomfortable. Do not go with a someone who spends all the time talking about what is great and one thing that needs improvement - my experience says they may not be fully invested in you or may not know beyond the one thing.
