About Josie
My favourite thing about teaching is helping students realise their full potential. I have been amazed to see the power of a transformed mindset, hard work and consistent effort.
I am creative, fun-loving and am bursting of different ways to remember maths procedures. I've been in my students' shoes, and understand the struggle that maths can be. A brief grouch and a good few laughs are frequent in my lessons.
When learning becomes more enjoyable, I find that students start to self-motivate a lot better. I believe that the purpose of extra lessons is not only to explain content to be properly understood, but also to teach students how to best teach themselves.

I teach years 9-11 (KS3 & KS4) for the GCSE and IGCSE syllabus. I have been tutoring one-on-one maths for over three years and have experience with a range of learning preferences as well as learning barriers.
I firmly believe that all students can achieve highly with maths, given that they have the right support and guidance. My lessons are a comfortable space where students can freely ask questions, especially the "stupid" ones! I work to take the scariness out of maths, and build up my students' self-confidence and self-management. I teach clear, step-by-step solutions to problems as well as conceptual comprehension.
My lessons are typically an hour long. However, I also offer 45 minute lessons for students with attention difficulties, as well as 1.5 hour lessons to students who require it.
