About Jazzmyn
Hi, I’m Jazzmyn! I’m an experienced high school math teacher, STEM tutor, and Master of Public Health graduate with several years of experience helping students strengthen their math and science skills. I’ve worked with students across a wide range of ages, learning styles, and confidence levels, including students who feel frustrated or anxious about math. My goal is to make challenging material feel manageable by breaking concepts down into clear steps and helping students understand the “why,” rather than simply memorizing procedures. My background includes teaching high school Algebra, private STEM tutoring, and working in public health research and education. I’m especially comfortable tutoring Algebra, Geometry, general mathematics, Chemistry, and college/university preparation. I’m patient, encouraging, and adaptable, and I tailor each session to the student’s individual needs. Whether you’re trying to catch up, prepare for a test, improve your grade, or get ahead, I’d love to help you feel more confident and capable in the classroom.

My lessons are designed to help students become both more confident and more independent in math and science. We’ll usually begin with a quick check-in and identify what you’re currently working on in class. From there, we can review confusing material, work through homework or practice problems, prepare for upcoming quizzes and exams, or build foundational skills that may be making newer material difficult. I explain concepts step-by-step, use multiple approaches when something isn’t clicking, and ask questions throughout the lesson so I can make sure you truly understand the material rather than simply copying a procedure. A typical lesson may include: review of previous material, guided examples, independent practice with support, homework/test preparation, calculator strategies when appropriate, and a brief recap of what to practice before our next session. I’m especially happy to work with students who say things like, “I’m just not a math person.” You absolutely can improve with the right explanation, practice, and support.

Details
Online sessions have no additional fee. For in-person tutoring, I charge a small travel fee depending on distance within the Tampa area. I offer a free 30-minute introductory meeting for new students so we can discuss your goals, current coursework, and what you’d like help with before scheduling regular lessons.
