About Vered
I was born into a family of writers and educators. My father was a beloved professor, while my stepmother was a prolific writer of young adult books (more than 70 to date). With this immersion, I developed a love for the power of words and letters. I eventually found my way into the publishing world, owned and operated an indie press, worked as an editor, copy editor and book designer. After 10 years of consistent work, I opened an indie bookstore and cafe that focused on community work and education through workshops, connecting writers with editors and publishers, and writing groups. I earned an MFA from the University of Alaska in Creative Writing and Literary Arts with an emphasis in creative nonfiction. My goal is to put my experiences to work for you, so you can achieve your highest and best voice and style.

My primary students are young adult through college and graduate level students looking for help with learning English as a second language, reading, writing and thesis preparation. If you are a student of writing and need editorial input, formatting help, or general feedback on your creative and academic work, I can help you get to the finish line! I have an MFA in creative writing and literary arts as well as a TEFL certification for students wanting to improve their English language skills. I have 20 years of experience as an editor and educator, and a deep love of the English language. My personal expertise is in creative nonfiction--specifically, memoir, personal essay and flash. My typical approach is to learn what each student needs, and cater a plan that works. I use Zoom as a general platform, but can flex to any means to help. I look forward to getting to know you and your work!
