About Barry
I’m Barry, a retired accountant and bookkeeper based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I spent many years in practice, helping clients keep their records and understand their accounts.
I want to teach because accounting can feel daunting, and I enjoy explaining it in a clear, practical way. I’m especially interested in helping adult learners and self-employed people build confidence with bookkeeping, accounting basics and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. My approach is patient and practical, with lessons shaped around each learner’s goals.
I teach not only the requirements of the professional qualifications but also from real life experiences.

I’m a retired accountant and bookkeeper with many years of practical experience, and I previously ran my own accountancy practice. I offer patient, one-to-one online lessons for adults who want to improve their bookkeeping and accounting or understand topics such as Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. I can also help with VAT, payroll, accounting software, Excel and practical bookkeeping questions. I explain things step by step, using clear examples, and tailor each lesson to the areas you want to work on. We can agree a focus for each session and go at a pace that suits you.
