About Maurie
I'm a first-year Engineering Science student at Oxford University, with a strong academic background in Maths and Physics. I decided to start tutoring because I remember how much of a difference it made having someone explain things clearly and patiently when I was preparing for my own GCSEs and A-levels — and I want to offer that same support to other students.
I'm passionate about STEM subjects and enjoy breaking down complex ideas into something manageable and, hopefully, even enjoyable. I'm patient, reliable, and genuinely invested in helping my students not just pass their exams, but actually understand the material with confidence.

My approach to tutoring is built around understanding, not memorisation. As an Engineering Science student at Oxford, I know how important it is to build strong fundamentals before tackling exam technique — so I focus first on making sure concepts genuinely click, then move on to applying them under exam conditions.
Lessons typically run for an hour, though I'm flexible depending on the topic and how a student is finding it. I tailor each session to the individual: working through past papers, breaking down tricky topics with clear worked examples, and building confidence for both GCSE and A-level Maths and Physics.
I particularly enjoy helping students who feel stuck or discouraged by a subject, showing them that with the right approach, it clicks.
