About Phalak
Hi! I'm a Materials Engineering student at the **University of Toronto** with a strong passion for math and helping others learn. Throughout high school, I consistently excelled in math courses and understand that the right explanation can make even the most challenging topics click.
I'm patient, approachable, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I tailor each lesson to the student's learning style and focus on building a strong understanding rather than simply memorizing formulas. My goal is to help students gain confidence, improve their grades, and become independent problem-solvers.
Whether you're looking for extra support with homework, preparing for a test, or trying to strengthen your overall math skills, I'm here to help. I work with middle and high school students and strive to make every lesson engaging, encouraging, and productive.

My approach as a tutor is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match their pace and learning needs. Rather than just giving answers, I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each concept so they can solve problems confidently on their own.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing any questions or challenging topics from previous work. I then explain new concepts using clear examples before working through practice problems together. As students become more comfortable, I encourage them to solve questions independently while I provide guidance and feedback. I also end each session with a quick review and, if needed, suggest practice questions to reinforce what we've covered.
What sets me apart is my patience and ability to explain concepts in simple, easy-to-understand ways. As a current engineering student, I use math regularly and understand which concepts students often struggle with. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to build confidence and develop strong problem-solving skills.
My lessons are designed for middle and high school students taking mathematics courses, including general math, algebra, geometry, functions, advanced functions, and introductory calculus. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for tests, or aiming for higher grades, I tailor each lesson to their individual goals.
