About Alex
My unique path to physics has given me the perspective of the student who thinks they might not be smart enough for math and physics. I spent my first 3-4 years of college studying business and marketing, but switched to physics quickly after falling in love with an astronomy class.
The shock of going from business to calculus-based physics was jarring. It took time, patience, and lots of self-reassurance to get to a position of tutoring and working under calculus professors to help other college students. From there, I moved on to working as a full time engineer after undergrad, which involved physics concepts such as ohms law.
Overall, I'm here to show that physics can give students an intuition for the world that not many people have. I found the subject exciting enough that I abandoned my business degree to pursue physics. I hope some of my excitement can rub off on my students!

Sessions will focus primarily on solving homework problems (middle school through college level) along with referencing the textbook. The goal of solving problems will be to build intuitive thinking skills through active learning and back-and-forth discussion.
Overall, my focus will be to help students feel supported through coursework that can be stressful and overwhelming. These sessions will be a space where questions can be asked freely without the challenge of navigating a full classroom setting
