About Rachel
I am an engineering gradute and have a PGCE in secondary maths. I have always loved maths and seeing how it is used in all aspects of life and industry. This is why I studied engineering in order to see and use maths in action. I am pasisionate about teaching students and seeing them grow in their own knowledge and understanding of mathematics and achieve their full potential.

From working in schools I can see the one size fits all approach is not always the best for some pupils and the advantage of tutoring is that I can use different styles to help pupils achieve. I have Aspergers Syndrome and from my own experience I know that classroom settings can be stressful for pupils in particular where new concepts are introduced or they are not confident in a subject. My approach is to help students build their own confidence in the subject through a variety of different lesson styles. Typical lesson length is an hour but can be adjusted to students needs for secondary students including GCSE. Worked as a Maths tutor in sixth form and university then worked as a teaching assistant in a secondary school and then worked in school during my PGCE. During my experience i have worked with a variety of students including those with SEN needs and worked with home schooled students.

Rachel was recommended to us by another parent. My son was lacking in confidence coming into his GCSEs. Rachel provided structured online tutoring over the course of 6 months, which I think has helped him significantly. He found Rachel to be practical and clear, helping him to understand formulas and concepts. Keeping fingers crossed for August and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rachel to others.
Rachel tutored our son working towards his GCSE maths. He is diagnosed dyslexic & on the ADHD pathway. She was very professional and organised; working with him to plug gaps in his learning that were identified through past papers. She was happy to set work for him to complete for the following week to consolidate the teaching completed. Rachel was reliable, flexible & punctual. I heartily recommend her.
