About Lily
I am a Classics student at Durham University and a former Winchester College student, with A-levels in Latin, Classical Greek and Philosophy. I am passionate about reading, languages and helping students gain confidence in subjects they may initially find difficult. My aim is to make lessons engaging, supportive and adapted to each student’s needs and goals.
Alongside tutoring, I have run Creative Writing and English as a Second Language clubs at my local public library, and volunteer with Gulab Sorkh, supporting Afghan teenagers as they develop their English and settle into life and culture in the UK. I was also a chorister with Grade 8 Voice, and have enjoyed and coached rowing, netball, lacrosse, cricket and tennis. As coxswain of the Boys’ 1st VIII, I developed patience, clear communication and an encouraging approach to helping young people achieve ambitious goals.

I offer friendly, supportive tutoring in person in Durham or online via Zoom. I aim to make each lesson engaging, encouraging, and tailored to the individual student, whether they need help building confidence, strengthening subject knowledge, preparing for exams, or developing effective study habits.
Lessons are flexible and usually last 30–60 minutes. I have paid experience tutoring at secondary-school level, as well as volunteer experience supporting both primary and A-level students. I am always happy to adapt the pace, format, and focus of sessions so that students feel comfortable, supported, and able to get the most out of each lesson.
I am available on Mondays, Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, Fridays, and weekends.
